Day 11 of Top Tweets.

I thought I could avoid it, but I can’t. Once again there are a lot of Political Tweets. Donald Trump is the president who keeps on giving. “I know some very fine white supremacists.” FFS. I don’t even know where to start. There’ll be some good cartoons about it very soon I’m sure. I’ll tweet then myself in the next day or two, then use them here.

Other than that, there’s been no rain for about six hours now at my place, but I doubt we’ll get through the day without some more. It’s getting warmer as we head into summer, but the spring rain seems relentless. During the few bouts of sunshine the photographers will be out there taking pictures of lambs and daffodils, preferably together, for the tourists, and everything is looking very green. So it’s not all bad.

How does this happen to a kid this young? It doesn’t appear to be his mother – she was scared of him. His father died before he was born. We know nothing about other influences on this young man yet. His high school was aware of his attitudes but doesn’t seem to have made any effort to educate him.

 

I’m sorry, but this is wrong. All I can say positively is that at least they’re not attacking real people. How would many of these same people feel if atheists went around toppling statues of Jesus and Mary because of what they represent?

This is unbelievable to me on two counts. Firstly, that the beating happened is disgusting. But then, this young man has to worry about effing medical bills! This wouldn’t even cross his mind in New Zealand or any other OECD country.

    I had not heard the sad story of Hachicō before, but sounds similar to the Scottish Greyfriars Bobby story.

    My initial reaction to the “Highland” photo was that it didn’t look like Scotland to me, but hard to tell unless one has personally visited that spot. On further reflection, it could be part of the Cuillin ridge, on Skye, which has a combination of jagged peaks and easy ridge paths. I’ve been through Google Images of the Cuillin Ridge, but can’t find that one.

      It does seem very high to be Scotland. Scotland was my first thought, but the mountains in the distance made me wonder. No trees and highlands is not that common a combination. There are small parts of the South Island of NZ like that, but the mountains are too far away for it to be here.

    I wonder how big that bonsai tree is. Hard to tell if it’s miniature or a couple meters tall. I don’t know if a “true” bonsai has size constraints. I love bonsai trees, but can never seem to keep them alive; I gave up on buying them some years ago.

    I hadn’t seen that beating. There will be a lot more beatings to come, and I wouldn’t be surprised if more murders are committed; Trump is ensuring that. And the healthcare travesty obviously adds to the absurdity of this country’s immoral and greedy heart. At least it won’t burden this poor victim since others have stepped up.

    I knew of Hachicō’s story from WEIT iirc. Even though I knew the story, the video was still somewhat blurry throughout. Damn onions. 🙂

    That’s the sort of skater pic I remember too; I used to skate with a bunch of buddies during the eighties on the fat boards. I will say this though; no one in our crew carried handguns like Easy E is doing in the photo. (I have a feeling you wouldn’t have posted it if you noticed the pistol.)

      I hadn’t noticed the gun, and you’re right, I wouldn’t have posted it. I doubt anyone in NZ ever skated with a gun either.
