I’m on a different computer today, with a keyboard that’s playing havoc with my already bad typing! I’ve been struck by the nightmare of the latest Windows 10 update, which so far has taken almost 21 hours on my laptop and is still going strong. Is it just me, or is hate for Windows 10 a normal condition? So there may not be too many tweets today as I’ll probably get sick of dealing with this really quickly.
Once again I’ve done my traditional liberal/free speech/trying not to be a hypocrite duty of watching some Fox News most days. They are slightly better these days. Now that the US has a Republican government they’re not quite so bitter, and there are things about their president that no decent person can support. Therefore, those who are more fair-minded will criticize Trump from time to time.
The rabid anti-Democrats can’t and won’t change though, and are still there. We’re stuck with the likes of Sean Hannity and Judge Janine unless either turns out to be a sexual harasser, which is pretty unlikely.
Anyway today, the man who on his last day on the job “accidentally” shut down President Trump’s Twitter account, was shown. They didn’t believe anything he had to say. One or two even made up a couple of accusations against him. That was all much as you would expect.
A comment was made that some have asked why Trump’s account isn’t shut down anyway, given that he often tweets things that breech Twitter’s terms and conditions. Twitter themselves have said that Trump’s tweets are “newsworthy.” Therefore he gets to keep his account open despite the breeches.
The panelists on ‘The Five’ mostly agreed with this. One or two added the comment that Trump had made so much money for Twitter that they owe it to him to allow him to continue.
But is that fair? That is exactly the attitude that we are currently fighting with the rich, famous, and powerful. For years many of them have got away with sexual harassment, abuse, and violence just because of who they are. Reasons like how much they made for the company is what kept the likes of Bill O’Reilly, Matt Lauer, Harvey Weinstein and others in a job. Trump is one who continues to get away with it. How is what he does on Twitter any different?
As with his treatment of women (and many others), Trump does not have to meet the same standards the rest of us do on Twitter. Like us, he should have to behave or be suspended. If he continues his bad behaviour, he should be banned. Not only is he allowed to be an a$$hole with his threats and abuse, there’s even the threat of nuclear war!
The consequences of a poorly judged tweet from Trump are far worse than for the rest of us. As Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov said just today:
It seems they have done everything on purpose to make Kim lose control and make another desperate move.
I don’t have much time for Lavrov, but he’s right on this in my opinion.

Yeah, that comment had me laughing too! 😀
Upgrading to windows 10 sucked for me too. Buying a new computer w/ 10 pre-loaded worked great. I got rid of the desktop that I “upgraded” as 10 whacked it out. Stopped being able to print/scan and programs were glitchy. I’ve read that formatting an older Windows computer and then installing 10 is advisable. I don’t like formatting though since you have to back everything up and it’s time consuming. We’re running two computers now, both with 10 pre-loaded (laptop and desktop) and I must say they are working splendidly.
Ads with doggies or kittehs in shelters always tear me up. I wish I could adopt them all!
Cows are so funny. Once while living in Wyoming I saw a herd of black cattle running in what looked to be a mad panic. When I reached the back of the herd, I saw what was causing the stampede- a big cardboard box being blown by the wind.
I’m sure you’ve heard that Flynn plead guilty. Let the fun begin.
I upgraded both computers to Windows 10 in March. The PC was fine, but the laptop threw a wobbly, but was fine once I got it installed. The latest is a major update, not the original upgrade, and took just as long on the PC, but once again the laptop threw a wobbly. Now that I’ve finally got it done, it’s working fine again, but I really don’t like the way they force you to use new software. e,g, I really like Windows Photo Gallery, but Windows 10 simply will not allow you to download it anymore.
Cows are funny. They’re really curious, but easily scared too.
I’ve only just heard about Flynn and haven’t had a chance to find out about it yet. I’m looking forward to the different takes on Fox and CNN!
Re. Flynn, please let us know the different takes. I think you are the only FOX viewer here…at least the only liberal FOX viewer. The WH is already spinning it as “we’re relieved”. Hilarious. I don’t twitter, but I’ll be looking forward to Trump’s inevitable Saturday night twitter-mental-miasma.
Yes, I really hate the way Microsoft is also forcing the licensing of new software; making users pay monthly is lame. Adobe is doing the same thing; I pay $10/month for two computers w/ Photoshop. The trend is you can’t buy software outright anymore, you have to rent it like cable or internet.
With our internet neutrality being dissolved, we consumers in the US will keep paying more and more and more for the same or worse.
Sarcasm:
Unfettered capitalism is proven to be empirically sound; so many studies have found it to be so. Trickle-down got me a yacht and I only work part time! The rest of the world is soooo stooopid not to embrace America’s republican economic model. It’s the type of plan that makes one tired of winning.
Yeah, I pay a six-monthly fee to Adobe so I can translate documents to MS Word and read handwriting (that bit hardly ever works). I managed to get Office 2013 outright, but it’s about time I upgraded, and I’m dreading it.
I will, of course, report what Fox says about Flynn. I’ve already got a tweet from Ann German where the WH is saying he only worked for them for 25 days, and he worked for Obama etc. Trying to distance themselves, and blame Obama!
Thanks for the video explaining NZ’s pronunciation. Loved it.
.
We don’t all talk quite that bad. I don’t think so anyway! I think of that as the West Auckland accent, which is the NZ equivalent of a London East Enders accent.
I’m not optimistic about the raccoon. If it was caught under that tree, enough to prevent it from escaping, a lot of muscle tissue would have been crushed, releasing a lot of myoglobin. Myoglobin, especially in the amounts released after these kind of crush injuries, compromises the kidneys. I fear our raccoon would have died later of kidney failure. Sorry to be the party pooper (I just hope the physiology/kidneys of raccoons may be different from the human one).
Lovely video of the beagle, I’d take it any day (beagles are lovely dogs to start with anyway). If that girl would not have ‘found’ it, it would probably have been euthanised. At least that is what happens here. If after (I think it is) 2 or 3 months there are no ‘takers’, it is the end of the road.
I think that’s what happens most places. Very sad.
What are Twitters terms exactly? I do not do Twitter, so I’m ignorant/
